Belmar strives to offer the cleanest and healthiest beach environment for our residents and visitors. Our 7th Avenue Beach was ranked the highest in New Jersey in the “Testing the Waters” Report done by the Natural Resources Defense Council. Our beach staff cleans and grooms the beaches every morning, and we strictly enforce restrictions that prohibit smoking on the beaches and boardwalk.

Belmar prides itself on having clean, safe and fun beaches for families of all kinds. Our beaches are home to the most playgrounds in New Jersey. They were built with children’s fun and safety in mind, and are a great place for the whole family to enjoy. It is convenient for parents to take their children to the beach parks, as there is one located at about every 5 beaches.

In addition to this series of colorful and fun beach playgrounds every few blocks, several of our beaches are devoted to activities like boogie boarding, kayaking and surfing. We even offer a surf camp at 2nd Avenue Beach, where kids of all ages can take surfing lessons. For older beachgoers who prefer dry land activities, several of our beaches are equipped with poles for volleyball nets. And even if you don’t have your own equipment, it’s usually easy to join a game.

Our boardwalk has been completely a composite material made of wood and plastic fibers that eliminates the possibility of getting a splinter. It’s a wonderful place to walk, jog, people-watch or just relax and enjoy the Ocean views. In addition, well-maintained restrooms are located every few blocks and we are constantly making improvements to our facilities and beautifying our boardwalk and dunes.

Belmar is also one of the most accessible beaches in New Jersey. We were one of the first towns to install Mobi-Mats to many of our beaches. These hard surface ramps continue down midway through the beachfront and provide universal access for anyone with a wheelchair, walking aid, or baby stroller.
