ALERT DETAILS:

Department of Public Works comprehensive flushing of the water system starting the week of April 6th, 2020

As in every Spring, the Borough has transferred from American Water back to water drawn from its own wells.  As part of this transfer, the Department of Public Works will be conducting a comprehensive flushing of the water system starting the week of April 6th, 2020.  Flushings will occur between the hours of 8pm and 4am so as to minimize impact to your home and will continue for several nights.

Residents may expect to see a temporary discoloration of the water and/or a decrease of pressure when the flushing is occurring.  We recommend that you avoid running your tap water, using the washing machine or dishwasher during the hours of 8pm to 4am.  If you do experience any discoloration please run cold water through your taps until it runs clear.

Additionally, Monday is leaf and brush pick up by the Department of Public Works.  Only leaves and brush will be picked up, no other waste.  Please remember to put the leaf and brush piles at least 10 feet away from any catch basin in accordance with N.J.D.E.P. Stormwater Management laws.  This will help keep our storm sewers clear of debris and help keep stormwater clean.

As always, we thank you for your cooperation and patience.  Please contact Belmar DPW with any questions at 732-681-0452 and have a good evening.
