Mayor and Council seek bidders for Seasonal Restaurant Concession on Ninth Ave Pier
With piles of snow on the ground, and another blizzard on the way, it's hard to envision a beautiful July evening enjoying dinner and cocktails on a pier with a spectacular view of the Belmar marina and the sun setting over the Shark River. But that's the sizzle the Mayor and Council are hoping will attract more than 80 area restaurateurs who have been invited to attend an informational meeting on February 11, 2010 at 9 a.m. at the Belmar Municipal Building. The purpose of the meeting is to outline the Borough's plans to bid out a concession ...
Belmar.com webcams provide bird’s eye view of the February 6th blizzard
The (latest) blizzard of the winter of 2010 is already well underway in Belmar, with several more hours to go. DPW crews worked overnight to keep the streets clear and to stay ahead of the storm, which will likely rage for the rest of Saturday. Fresh crews will be brought in once the end of the storm is in sight, and will work through the night to clear Belmar's streets. So far, it's an unusual snow storm, and appearances are deceiving. All Belmar Residents urged to register their cell phones for “Code Red” notifications
The power outage on January 2nd underscored how important it is that all Belmar residents register their cell phones with the Borough's "Code Red" notification system. Those residents who use Cablevision or FIOS for their home telephone service were not able to receive Code Red notification messages from the Police Department during the outage, because unlike traditional telephone lines (which have their own source of power) their phone service goes out whenever JCP&L's power goes out. So, even if you usually receive Code Red messages from the Borough, please take a few moments to click here and ...
Morning fire rips through home on 10th Avenue
Belmar's Goodwill Hose Company, Union Fire Company No. 1 and Volunteer Hook and Ladder, with assistance from Avon's Fire Department, responded to a fire at 1001 E Street on 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. All three residents escaped mostly unscathed, though one woman was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center after tripping while running from the burning home. By the time the fire was extinguished at 11 a.m., it was clear the charred home was destroyed. Belmar Police and First Aid, Avon Police and the Monmouth County Fire Marshal's Office were all on the scene as the fire was extinguished. The ...
