Senior Citizen Services

The town of Belmar is extremely responsive to the needs of our senior citizens and have initiated and/or coordinated many activities for all residents 65 years and older.

Through the Mayor’s Council for Senior Citizens, the Borough offers numerous programs for Belmar’s Senior Citizens, including an annual Senior Health Fair, annual Christmas Party and a bus trip to an Atlantic City casino on the first Tuesday of each month.

Special acknowledgement is owed to former Councilmember Andy Gallagher, who for more than 10 years served as the Council’s liaison to the Mayor’s Council for Senior Citizens. Working together with his good friend, Ed Lenneper, Andy was responsible for the implementation of most of Belmar’s many programs for senior citizens. Andy Gallagher passed away in March of 2008 at the age of 79.

The current Council Liaison to Mayor’s Council for Senior Citizens is Councilwoman Claire Deicke.
