Mayor Matthew Doherty announced today that the Borough of Belmar has opened a cooling center at 601 Main Street due to the heat wave impacting our area with temperatures expected to reach the high nineties throughout the week,

The community room at 601 Main Street will be open as a Cooling Center all of this week.  Residents can come to the community room to get out of the heat and relax in the air conditioning; ice, water and games are also available.  Especially if you do not have air conditioning at home, consider coming to the community room any day this week from 9am – 4:30pm.  If you have questions about the cooling center, please call Kelly Williams at732-681-3700 x 218.

We remind all our residents to keep as cool as possible and to drink plenty of water.  Remember that 11am to 3pm is typically the hottest part of the day and you should avoid exposure to the sun.  Children and seniors are the most vulnerable to heat stroke.

We encourage everyone to stay safe and cool during this intensely hot week .
