Press Room » The Stone Pony holiday party set for Dec. 9

BELMAR — Beach Music Studios, here, will be holding a benefit for Belmar and the surrounding communities at its seventh annual holiday party at The Stone Pony on Dec. 9.

Each year children from Beach Music Studios, located in the Belmar Plaza, gather at The Stone Pony to perform, said Danny White, owner of Beach Music Studios and member of the Danny White Band. Children perform individually and, at the end, the Beach Music Rock Band, consisting of about 25 children from the studio, performs.

“It gives them an opportunity to get up on a legendary stage like The Stone Pony,” he said.
The holiday party is a time to give back each year, as the studio has been collecting toys for the Manna House, located in Cliffwood Beach. The Manna House is an organization dedicated to helping individuals and families “in the transition from homelessness and dependency on society to self-sufficiency and permanent housing,” according to its website, mannahouseonline.com/.

This year will be no different, as the studio will still be collecting toys. But instead of just benefiting the Manna House, the toys will also benefit children in Belmar and the surrounding communities.

Mr. White said some of the children who take lessons at Beach Music Studio have lost their homes and been displaced as a result of Superstorm Sandy.

“We want to try to do our part so the kids have a good Christmas and a good holiday,” he said.

Last year the event raised about four car loads of toys, with about 500 people in attendance, Mr. White said.

This year, Mr. White said he is hoping to exceed that by raising eight car loads of toys and maxing out The Stone Pony’s occupancy of 800 people.

As a special addition to this year’s holiday concert, the Danny White Band, Pat Roddy and Shore Blue, all local bands, will also be performing.

To purchase tickets for the event, either visit Beach Music Studios, located at 808 Belmar Plaza, or at the event. Tickets cost $10 and please bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the toy drive.

The holiday party will begin at 1:30 p.m. at The Stone Pony, located at 913 Ocean Ave. in Asbury Park.
