Social Services
Belmar offers several social service/assistance programs for residents through the office of Carolyn Sharrock, Social Services Coordinator.

GENERAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
This is a state-reimbursed program administered locally in Belmar for single adults or childless couples. The program is income eligible and also has time restraints. Eligibility is determined by Belmar’s Social Services Coordinator according to state regulations. When an individual qualifies, the director works with them to become self-sufficient in the community once again. All rules and regulations must be followed to reach the goal of self-sufficiency.
Who qualifies: Single adults or childless couples who are Belmar residents, income eligible, and willing to follow program guidelines.
SOCIAL SERVICES ASSISTANCE
This assistance is for residents who do not qualify for General Assistance but are in need of services. Belmar’s Social Services Coordinator works to resolve situations and secure assistance through contacts with outside agencies and nonprofit organizations.
Who qualifies: Any Belmar resident needing information or networking.
SENIOR SERVICES
Belmar’s Social Services coordinator works with seniors residents to explain or resolve eligibility issues for various services, as well as speakers and programs of interest to the senior community.
Who qualifies: Any senior living in Belmar.
FOOD PANTRY
This pantry is available to any resident in emergency need of food. It is stocked by local residents with canned vegetables, soups, pasta, juices, coffee, tea, etc. Any type of food with a shelf life is appreciated.
Who qualifies: Any resident who needs emergency temporary help with food.
