SUBJECT: September 2008 Monthly Highlights

Pursuant to NJSA 40A:14-118, the Chief of Police must report the monthly operation of the police force for the preceding month to the appropriate authority. This report is submitted concerning police operations during the month of September 2008. From a Department of Public Safety standpoint I have also included sections concerning first aid, the fire department and the September 2008 Belmar Beach Patrol report.

PRODUCTIVITY:

The Belmar Police Department responded to 1453 calls for service during the month of September 2008. Officers responded to and investigated 12 motor vehicle accidents, issued 43 Borough Ordinance Summonses, issued 342 Motor Vehicle Summonses, 31 adult arrests were made, 1 for DWI, and 0 juvenile arrests were made.

CRIME INFORMATION:

During the month of September 2008 we had 0 robberies; 2 assaults; 7 burglaries;

17 larceny thefts; 0 motor vehicle thefts.

PERSONNEL ISSUES:

During the month of September 2008 there were 13 sick days used by Regular Police and 0 sick days used by Dispatchers.

SCHOOLING:

PO Michael Campbell and PO Gregory Desserich attended a Firearms Instructor course from September 8-12, 2008, at the Division of Criminal Justice Academy in Sea Girt, NJ.

Captain Thomas Palmisano, PO Gregory Desserich, PO Daniel Lynch and PO Nicholas Walsifer attended a DWI Breathalyzer Recertification Class on September 5, 2008, at the Ocean County Police Academy.

Detective Sean Pringle and PO John Garrecht attended training through POAC (education leader for the autism community) on September 23, 2008, at the Essex County Police Academy.

BELMAR FIRST AID:

The Belmar First Aid Squad responded to 56 calls for service in the month of

September 2008.

BELMAR FIRE DEPARTMENT:

The Belmar Fire Department responded to 14 emergency calls in September 2008.
