SUBJECT: May 2008 Monthly Highlights

Pursuant to NJSA 40A:14-118, the Chief of Police must report the monthly operation of the police force for the preceding month to the appropriate authority. This report is submitted concerning police operations during the month of May 2008. From a Department of Public Safety standpoint, I have also included sections concerning first aid and fire department.

PRODUCTIVITY:

The Belmar Police Department responded to 1756 calls for service during the month of May 2008. Officers responded to and investigated 26 motor vehicle accidents, issued 243 Borough Ordinance Summonses, issued 808 Motor Vehicle Summonses, 42 adult arrests were made, 1 for DWI, and 1 juvenile arrest was made.

CRIME INFORMATION:

During the month of May 2008 we had 2 robberies; 2 assaults; 47 burglaries, 32 unfounded; 19 larceny thefts, 8 unfounded; 0 motor vehicle thefts.

PERSONNEL ISSUES:

During the month of May 2008 there were 3 sick days used by Regular Police and 4 sick days used by Dispatchers.

SCHOOLING:

Catherine Eads attended OPRA/Government Records Update for Police Records on

May 30, 2008.

BELMAR FIRST AID:

The Belmar First Aid Squad responded to 48 calls for service in the month of

May 2008.

BELMAR FIRE DEPARTMENT:

The Belmar Fire Department responded to 13 emergency calls in May 2008.
