SUBJECT: March 2006 Monthly Highlights

Pursuant to NJSA 40A:14-118, the Chief of Police must at least monthly report the operation of the police force for the proceeding month to the appropriate authority. The below report is submitted concerning police operations during the month of March 2006. From a Department of Public Safety standpoint, I have also included sections concerning first aid, fire department and beach operations.

PRODUCTIVITY:

The Belmar Police Department responded to 1563 calls for service during the month of March 2006. Officers responded to and investigated 12 motor vehicle accidents; issued 26 Borough Ordinance Summonses; issued 205 Motor Vehicle Summonses; and 43 Arrests were made; 6 of which were for DWI.

CRIME INFORMATION:

During the month of March 2006 we had 7 assaults, all cleared; 0 burglaries; 12 thefts, 5 cleared and 2 motor vehicle thefts, both cleared. During the month of March 2006 we had 42 adults and 2 juveniles arrested for various violations.

PERSONNEL ISSUES:

During the month of March 2006 there were 7 sick days used by Regular Officers; and 4 sick days used by Dispatchers

POLICE DEPARTMENT TRAINING:

During the month of March 2006, the following personnel attended the below listed schools/training sessions:

PO’s Mark Walsifer and Gregory Desserich attended a 2 day Seminar on Erasing Bigotry and Hate Gang Intelligence and Organized Hate Groups.

Sgt. William Aker attended a 3 day training session on Pistol Repair

PO’s Nick Walsifer and Darian Vitello attended a 3 day training session on Field Training Officers.

Chief Hill attended a 2 day training session on the Evacuation & Re-entry Training for Emergency Management.

BELMAR FIRST AID:

The Belmar First Aid Squad responded to 36 calls for service in the month of March 2006.

BELMAR FIRE DEPARTMENT:

The Belmar Fire Department responded to 7 emergency calls in March 2006.
