SUBJECT: July 2008 Monthly Highlights

Pursuant to NJSA 40A:14-118, the Chief of Police must report the monthly operation of the police force for the preceding month to the appropriate authority. This report is submitted concerning police operations during the month of July 2008. From a Department of Public Safety standpoint I have also included sections concerning first aid, the fire department and the July 2008 Belmar Beach Patrol report.

PRODUCTIVITY:

The Belmar Police Department responded to 2241 calls for service during the month of July 2008. Officers responded to and investigated 49 motor vehicle accidents, issued 438 Borough Ordinance Summonses, issued 1334 Motor Vehicle Summonses, 58 adult arrests were made, 5 for DWI, and 2 juvenile arrests were made.

CRIME INFORMATION:

During the month of July 2008 we had 1 robbery; 9 assaults, 1 cleared; 8 burglaries;

20 larceny thefts; 0 motor vehicle thefts.

PERSONNEL ISSUES:

During the month of July 2008 there were 17 sick days used by Regular Police and 2 sick days used by Dispatchers.

SCHOOLING:

PO Christopher Lynch attended the Smith & Wesson Armorers Field School from

July 29-31, 2008.

BELMAR FIRST AID:

The Belmar First Aid Squad responded to 102 calls for service in the month of

July 2008.

BELMAR FIRE DEPARTMENT:

The Belmar Fire Department responded to 38 emergency calls in July 2008.
