SUBJECT: August 2008 Monthly Highlights

Pursuant to NJSA 40A:14-118, the Chief of Police must report the monthly operation of the police force for the preceding month to the appropriate authority. This report is submitted concerning police operations during the month of August 2008. From a Department of Public Safety standpoint I have also included sections concerning first aid, the fire department and the August 2008 Belmar Beach Patrol report.

PRODUCTIVITY:

The Belmar Police Department responded to 1934 calls for service during the month of August 2008. Officers responded to and investigated 32 motor vehicle accidents, issued 307 Borough Ordinance Summonses, issued 1140 Motor Vehicle Summonses, 59 adult arrests were made, 6 for DWI, and 0 juvenile arrests were made.

CRIME INFORMATION:

During the month of August 2008 we had 0 robberies; 3 assaults; 4 burglaries;

19 larceny thefts; 1 motor vehicle thefts.

PERSONNEL ISSUES:

During the month of August 2008 there were 3 sick days used by Regular Police and 1 sick days used by Dispatchers.

SCHOOLING:

During the month of August 2008, Sergeant W. Aker, Sergeant H. Harsin, Detective S. Pringle, Detective M. Walsifer, Officer J. Garrecht, Officer T. Lee and Officer D. Vitello attended DWI ALCO Test Certification.

Chief Jack W. Hill, Jr., attended Accreditation Assessor training on August 27 & 28, 2008.

Detective Sean Pringle attended Uniform Memorandum of Agreement Between Law Enforcement and Education training on August 15, 2008.

BELMAR FIRST AID:

The Belmar First Aid Squad responded to 110 calls for service in the month of

August 2008.

BELMAR FIRE DEPARTMENT:

The Belmar Fire Department responded to 23 emergency calls in August 2008.
