Claire Deicke – Councilwoman

Family:
Married to former Belmar Councilman, Doug Deicke and has a son, Douglas and daughter, Marion along with three grandchildren.
Education:
Graduated from Long Branch High School, Class of ’60. BA from Trenton State College (now The College of NJ) Class of’64
Professional Experience:
Claire taught in The Ocean Township School District,1964-68, and at Belmar Elementary School, 1976-98.
During this time she was named Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers and a recipient of The Governor’s Teach Recognition Award, 1994-95.
She also wrote an Education Column for the Asbury Park Press during the 1990′s.
Government Experience:
She was elected to The Belmar Board of Education in 1999 and was a Vice President of the Board until 2005. She acted as liason to The Manasquan Board of Education during this time period representing our school district.
Organizations:
Claire is a member of The Belmar Woman’s Club since 1999 where she has served as President of the BWC from 2004-2006. Presently she is Chairwoman of The Social Services Department.
She has been named to Honor Roll and Order of The Lily, NJ State Federation of Women’s Club- highest honors bestowed on a member for services to club, community and Federation.
She also organizes the annual blood drives to benefit The Central Jersey Blood Bank.
Claire supports the Madonna House, the Mercy Center, the Belmar Food Pantry, and the Valerie Fund Center and is active in educational outreach efforts to promote breast cancer awareness.
