Belmar Recreation will be meeting interested persons on the boardwalk in front of the Belmar Fishing Club starting Monday March 15 at 11:00. The purpose will be to measure different routes with Belmar residents using a Rolatape. This will assist people in setting goals and distances for walks or jogging and helping them keep accurate times and distances to mark improvement.
Our goal is to get you moving in a positive direction towards better health. The walks can start in Belmar and go in any reasonable direction and distance. If you have specific needs please plan ahead and call Michael Campbell at 732-681 3700 dial 9 then 211.
Weather permitting we will meet every weekday starting March 15 thru March 25th 2010.

I am proud to have a son ( Captain Adam Campbell) serving in the USMC in Kandahar Afghanistan. Adam advised that with the holidays approaching the best things to send to the troops are Phone cards , SKYPE cards and Itune cards. Adam advised that he would disperse any cards to enlisted Marines wishing to call home for the holidays. My son is a Harrier Pilot assigned to VMA 231. This squadron has over 200 marines in Kandahar. VMA 231 is charged with flying close air support (CAS) for the united troops serving in Afghanistan. VMA 231 is due to return the beginning of summer 2010. I encourage any one who wishes to donate cards to the marines to write a quick note that can be sent with your gift.
Many of you have already donated DVD’s to the marines. To date we have sent over 500 DVD’s to Afghanistan. These are in a central location for all to check out. DVD’s are still being accepted by Belmar Recreation and sent to Afghanistan.
Thank you for all you do for our brave Men and Women serving so far from home.

Belmar Recreation is collecting DVDs for our Service men and women stationed at Kandahar Afghanistan. In their down time it is a great distraction to be able to check out a movie from a video library and dream of being somewhere else. For these brave men and women who sacrifice so much, we would love to be able to assist them in building the DVD library. Any and all movies will be accepted and sent to Kandahar in care of the USMC. The DVDs will be accessible to all service personnel assigned to that base. If you have some movies that you just don’t use or wish to purchase some for the cause, Please drop them off at the Belmar Gym at 601 Main Street or call Mike Campbell and I can pick them up if that helps. 732-681-3700 dial 9 then 211

On Monday September 28 from 0730 am until 230 pm , the equipment that has been collected and cleaned up will be placed in the gym at 601 Main Street for people to take as needed. The Borough of Belmar is very happy to announce that we are receiving positive feedback from the community and some businesses about our banquet for veterans. As a result, we will be up-scaling the event and changing the date from November 8th at Taylor Pavilion to November 11th, Veterans Day at the Barclay. The owners of the Barclay, along with the members Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh have made this possible. There will be music from at least two live bands. We are planning on a DJ. The food will be donated by local businesses.
We are looking for loans of memorabilia to help bring back memories for those who served, and to help others understand what it was like. We are also looking for food establishments to donate a platter or two with your business cards. There will be no charge to the Veterans, who will also be allowed to bring limited guests. There will be a cash bar for those who wish to take part. I am still looking for volunteers to help pull things together. The event will hold 275 people and tickets will be provided upon request at a later date. MARK YOUR CALENDARS Veterans Day, November 11 at the Barclay. Local Community members will be encouraged to come out and thank these brave men and women for their service.
Since we did the Wounded Warrior Fishing trip last year for our current heroes, this event is aimed to thank all those Brave Men and Women who served prior to the current war. As long as the tickets last, any Veteran who served our Country honorably is invited. Tell your Grandparents, Parents, and friends, it is time to say Thank You before we lose the chance. WWII – Korean- Vietnam – Cold War- Gulf war and any other Veteran that I may have missed. Please mark your calendar and let us serve you for one night.
