Enjoy Self-Guided Shark River Tour

[Shark-River-bike-tour.pdf]

What do graceful egrets, the first lunar radio signal and award-winning architecture have in common? Shark River! This small body of water, which is actually a bay, offers a rich history and is home to a diversity of life. Learn more about our wonderful Shark River Bay and enjoy its scenic vistas through a self-guided Shark River Tour.

The BEC developed the popular Tour brochure with the Shark River Environmental Roundtable. The 11-mile walk-bike-drive Tour has 17 “points of interest” that highlight the ecology and history of the area — like the Diana Tower in Wall Township (the site of the first radio signal sent to the moon and back), the ospreys in Neptune’s Musquash Cove and the legends of Captain Kidd’s buried treasure. A Shark River Inlet option brings you past beautiful waterfront homes in Avon and Belmar as well as the award-winning architecture of the Belmar Fishing Club.
