Magical Garden

“MAGICAL GARDEN” BLOOMS IN BELMAR

Belmar’s “Magical Garden” Greenhouse and Community Garden opened in 2000. It is used by dozens of school children and community residents.

Greenhouse: All Belmar residents are welcome to use the Magical Garden Greenhouse. Many individuals start seeds throughout the winter and have hardy plants and vegetables ready to plant in their gardens in the spring. If you are interested in using the greenhouse, contact Belmar Environmental Commissioner Carol Davies.

Community Garden: The Belmar Environmental Commission sponsors a Community Garden group, which meets during the spring, summer and fall to prepare, plant and harvest a large variety of organic vegetables.

Living Laboratory: The Belmar Elementary School Flower Power 4-H club was formed in anticipation of the greenhouse, and the 4-H’ers continue to work in the garden. In addition borough teachers use the Magical Garden as a living laboratory where science and other subjects come to life through horticulture projects.
