Jim McCracken began enjoying Belmar and the Jersey Shore when he relocated to work for the United Methodist Communities (UMC) in 1995. He bought his first home on Terrace Road in 1996 and now lives on 2nd Avenue.

A devoted public servant, Jim served on the Fredon Township Committee for over 7 years and was elected by his peers for terms as Deputy Mayor and Mayor after being relocated by UMC to open a new state of the art Continuing Care Retirement Community in Sussex County.

In 2010, Jim joined state government and advocated for older adults residing in long-term care communities as the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman. Now in the private sector, Jim utilizes his experience in government and the private sector to serve the residents of Belmar.

A firm believer in community service, Jim is a former Rotarian, has been involved in various chambers of commerce and is a past president of a 200 Club and county League of Municipalities.

In addition to the Belmar Council, he currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Belmar Fishing Club.
