Flu Vaccination Clinic

The Monmouth County Health Department will be administering Seasonal Flu Vaccinations at Borough Hall in the Municipal Court Room on October 21, 2010 from 1:30-3:00 PM.

FLU/PNEUMONIA immunizations will be offered to anyone over 18 years of age.  The cost for Non-Medicare eligible participants will be $23.00 for the flu shot and $28.00 for the pneumonia shot. Eligible Medicare Participants Having Part B (medical) Insurance need just present their Medicare card. NO OTHER INSURANCE IS ACCEPTED.

Please note this is only for a Seasonal Flu Vaccination. More information coming soon.

Belmar Library Presents: Victorian Mourning Customs

Summer is almost over and autumn will be on its way with thoughts of ghosts and goblins, witches and vampires.  What better way to spend an October evening than learning about Victorian mourning customs.

On October 27th at 7 pm at the Belmar Public Library ,517 10th Avenue, Jane Estes will bring Victorian death and dying to life with her “tongue-in-cheek look at Civil War era funeral customs.” There will be a presentation with a question and answer session.

She will speak the dying words of some famous people, explore some of the odder aspects of that time and present a display of mourning memorabilia along with  a brief slide show demonstrating headstone symbolism.

This program is free and suitable for ages 10 and up.

Helping Seniors Survive the Economic Crisis

The National Council on Aging is hosting “Helping Seniors Survive the Economic Crisis” on September 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Belmar Library, 517 10th Avenue.  A representative from the National Council on Aging will be available to answer questions and provide information.

WHAT? Shoe Donations For men,women,children (gently-used shoes)

WHEN?  Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 from 1-4 pm

WHERE? TaylorPavilion (5^th and Ocean Aves, Belmar)

Shoes will be distributed to homeless shelters, centers for domestic violence victims, and sent to war-torn areas of  the world.

Summer Socials Music & Dancing at Taylor Pavilion

The 2010 summer social’s held at Taylor Pavilion will start July 1st from 8pm till 10pm. The social’s will be held every Thursday in July and August. There is no charge so put on your dancing shoes and bring a friend to 5th and Ocean ave.

Monday night concerts will start July 5th at 8pm and will be held every Monday in July and August. The concerts will be held at the Taylor Pavilion (500 Ocean Ave. ) and are free to all. Enjoy the music and have a great summer!
