Fit Walk Route planning

Belmar Recreation will be meeting interested persons on the boardwalk in front of the Belmar Fishing Club starting Monday March 15 at 11:00. The purpose will be to measure different routes with Belmar residents using a Rolatape. This will assist people in setting goals and distances for walks or jogging and helping them keep accurate times and distances to mark improvement.
Our goal is to get you moving in a positive direction towards better health. The walks can start in Belmar and go in any reasonable direction and distance. If you have specific needs please plan ahead and call Michael Campbell at 732-681 3700 dial 9 then 211.
Weather permitting we will meet every weekday starting March 15 thru March 25th 2010.

Michael S. Miller guides you through the basics. Some of the topics to be covered will be camera settings and functions, RAW vs. JPEG, white-balancing functions, and more. No questions will go unanswered! All digital cameras are welcome.

Film Series to Begin at the Belmar Arts Council

On Friday, February 26, at 7:00 p.m., weather permitting, Ira Wallace and Sandy Cook of the Belmar Arts Council will be hosting the first film in their Independent Film Series, “Like Water for Chocolate.” An interactive discussion will take place following the film. The Easter Egg Hunt will be held on March 27th at 11 am Sharp.
Ages 1-3 will meet at the 6th ave beach
Ages 4-5 7th ave beach (north)
Ages 6-7 7th ave (south)
Ages 8-9 8th ave beach.
Please don’t be late as the Easter Egg Hunt will start on time and only lasts a few short minutes before all the eggs are found. DON’T BE LATE

Public Hearing – Doughboy Park Comfort Station

TAKE NOTICE that the Borough of Belmar is proposing to change the use of 0.06 acres of Doughboy Park from park use to a comfort station:
The comfort facility will consist of a new building containing restrooms, showers, laundry area, a utility room, pergola, and adjacent sidewalks. The comfort facility will be used by Doughboy Park and Belmar Municipal Marina patrons.
Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 7:36-25.6(a)1, a hearing to obtain public comment on this proposed change of use will be held at:

On Thursday, March 18, 2010, at 7:30 PM
All information regarding the proposed change in use is available for public inspection at the Municipal Clerk’s office in the Borough Hall.
Written comments on the proposed change in use may be directed to the Municipal Clerk, 601 Main Street, Belmar, NJ 07719 (732)-681-3700. Please send a copy of any comments submitted on this request to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Green Acres Program, Bureau of Legal Services and Stewardship, PO Box 412, Trenton NJ 08625-0412.
Public comment on this proposed change in use will be accepted during the public hearing or until April 1, 2010. On or after April 2, 2010, the Borough may take formal action to approve the proposed change in use.

Little League Registration dates and times

Belmar, Avon, Lake Como Little League is holding registration for the 2010 season from 6 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 14, 19 and 21 and from 10 am to 2 pm. on January 16 and 23. Signups will be held at the Belmar Gym Lobby at 601 Main Street in Belmar. Registration is also available online at www.eteamz.com/balc.
