Coast Guard, good Samaritan rescue three from capsized boat

The Coast Guard, along with a good Samaritan, rescued three people Sunday after the 20-foot boat they were aboard capsized 1 mile east of the Shark River Inlet.

The Coast Guard received a call at 12:28 p.m. from a crew member of the High Hope, reporting they were taking on water. A good Samaritan from the boat Lady Gail Marie arrived on scene after the boat capsized and pulled all three people from the water with no injuries.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Shark River arrived on scene shortly after. All three people were transferred to the rescue boat and to the Shark River station where they were transferred to awaiting medical personnel.

All three people were wearing a life jacket.
