Monmouth County is offering a medical discount card plan to all residents of the county. Signup for the Wellness Discount Program is free, and there are no restrictions according to age or income. This program is not insurance. According to county officials, the plan offers the greatest benefits to the uninsured and underinsured, but individuals with adequate health insurance could realize benefits also. Discounts on the following include: prescription drugs, hearing exams and hearing aids, vision exams, eyeglasses and contact lenses, dental care, diabetic supplies, and more. To participate in the program, residents must first obtain cards, which can be found in brochures explaining the plan. Councilwoman Claire Deicke, who represents Belmar on the County’s Office of The Aging Municipal Coordinators Council, is Belmar’s contact person for this medical card discount program. Thus far, these brochures/cards are available at the Belmar Public Library and the social services office at the Belmar Municipal Complex. For more information, click here to access the brochure from the Office on Aging . The brochure contains the discount card, and can be printed out for use from this brochure.
For further information, call the Monmouth County Office on Aging at 732-431-7450, or e-mail Claire Deicke at ctd@verizon.net.
