Mayor’s Wellness Campaign sponsors youth safety event

The Belmar Mayor’s Wellness Campaign sponsored a youth safety event on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the Belmar-Taurosa Family Skate Park, located at Dempsey Park on Sixteenth Avenue. Information on the playground, skating and helmet safety were provided, along with healthy snacks and water for the kids. Five safety helmets were donated by Health Net and raffled during the event. Pro Skateboard Shop in Belmar provided professionals to show the kids some cool skateboarding stunts in a safe environment.

Special thanks to Councilwoman Claire Deicke and Mayor’s Wellness Campaign member Connie Vassallo-Gutierrez for their efforts in helping to organize this event.
