Why not have a lofty goal, right?
Well, Dan and Bethany do. Ever since Dan was 15, he wanted to kayak the entire east coast of the United States. Now that they are married and have the time, they are making that dream a reality. D&B put their boats in the chilly waters of Lubec, Maine on September 2. 2008. After paddling from Lubec to Portland they stopped for the winter. On May 2, 2009 they paddled away from Portland to continue their trip to Key West. They are now about 3 days north of New York, and guess where they want to come to next? Our town — BELMAR! The Shark River Kayak Co. will be greeting Dan and Bethany when they arrive through the Shark River Inlet. We don’t know the date yet, but it will be soon. We hope you can join us in greeting these most adventurous kayakers!

I love fishing & boating in Belmar, however I have 2 complaints. the boat ramp in the marina need to have some sort of wood or rubber rub rail, every time I launch there I get new scrathes on my boat!! Also I rent a transient slip every year usually after labor day. This year the docks were a real mess with sea gull crap and I chose not to dock my boat overnight.
