beachfront-pics-009 The Belmar DPW staff has been working to extend the useful lives of several of Belmar’s older beachfront restrooms. The makeovers include new vinyl siding and mouldings, as well as fresh paint. Pictured on the left is the restroom at Nineteenth Ave, which was completed in late April. Pictured below is the restroom at Third Avenue, which is currently undergoing renovation. Planned interior improvements include fresh paint on the stalls and new flooring. After the Nor’easter of ‘92 destroyed much of Belmar’s beachfront and boardwalk, Belmar replaced the fixed restroom facilities at Sixth, Sixteenth and Nineteenth Avenues with pre-fabricated, trailer-mounted portable restrooms, which are moved inland at the end of each summer. A portable restroom facility was also added at Third Avenue beach, which made Belmar’s northern beaches more accessible to beachgoers. There are also fixed restroom facilities located in the Eighth and Tenth Avenue Pavilions. portable-restroom-renovation
